- The Day-home is open from 7:30 a.m - 5:00 p.m Monday through Friday. The Day-home is closed evenings, weekends and all Statutory holiday: New Year's Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Heritage Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. If the Stat. holiday falls on a weekend, the day home will be closed on the Monday in lieu of that Stat.  ALL STATUTORY HOLIDAYS ARE PAID. Part time children pay for the Stat. holidays only if the holiday falls on a day that the child would normally be here.

- Parents should always stay within the contracted hours. Everyone is allowed to be late once and a while, but please be considerate and call so I know what is happening. If late pick up is a re-occurrence, there will be an over-time fee.  If hours at work/school change, please inform me about the time change to ensure that I am able to provide later care.  A new contract will have to be drawn up.

-Hot lunches, snacks and drinks are provided in the home.  Due to staggered drop off in the morning, the children should have breakfast at home before arriving to care.

-It is very normal that a child will need some time to adjust to being in a day home with others around them rather than mom and dad.  Although this is one of the hardest step for the child and the parents, drop-off should be made simply and fast.  Clinging to the child, or parents coming in to stay for awhile, will only prolong the adjusting period for the child.  A quick good bye and hug and then the child should be passed on to myself.  Believe me, after a week or so, the child will be just fine when dropped off, and yes please call if needed to see how your child is doing.

-If your child/ren will be away from the day home, please call the evening before or in the morning to let me know they will be away that day. After two consecutive days of being absent without a call or email, will lead me to believe that you have terminated care and will be looking to fill the spot.  Please call by 8 a.m so I can plan the day accordingly.

-Any sick days or holidays that the children will be away, the childcare fees remain the same. Only if I take a day off or am sick and close the day home (except stat.holidays) is there a break in fees and I will reimburse at the pro rated rate. This applies for part timers as well.

-Parents must sign a contract agreeing to all policies and the childcare fees, prior to starting in the home.  Childcare fees are to be paid by the last business day of each month for the following month. Failure to pay the provider on time can result of immediate termination of childcare services.

-If a child is still on baby food, formula,  or diapers, that is to be provided by the parents.along with baby wipes, rash cream etc.  Due to sanitary reasons and space in the changing bathroom, the provider will not accept cloth diapers. Sorry.

-An updated copy of the child's immunisation must be seen by myself.

-Please ensure that children arrive to the day home dressed appropriately for the weather  We go outside a lot.  EXTRA SET OF CLOTHES SHOULD ALSO BE PACKED AND LEFT AT THE HOME.  In the summer months please ensure that hats, sunscreen, and bathing suits are coming.  We love the water play and the pool.

-I do not drive with the children at no given time.

-We are pet and smoke free home.

.

-Children are welcome to bring toys from home, but please remember that toys break and some  are to special to share.  Please leave the special toys at home, toys that will be shared are welcomed. If there is a special blanket or stuffy that the children like to nap with do bring it along!. I ask that guns knives swords....stay at home and should never be brought  in the home.

-When children are sick, they are not to come to care.  Everyone can handle the common cold, but anything else like a high fever, vomiting, or loose bowels, the child needs to stay home.  If the child gets sick during daycare hours, the parents will be notified to come get the child .It  is very hard to look after a sick child with other children to tend to,Please remember I can not administer any type of medication to the children. I am however able to use an EPI PEN for the children with life threatening allergies or administer medication if a fever reaches 104.  PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR CHILD HAS SEVERE ALLERGIES, AN EPI PEN MUST COME TO THE DAY-HOME EVERYDAY WITH THE CHILD.  IF THE EPI PEN IS FORGOTTEN, THE CHILD CAN NOT BE IN CARE. Please inform me during the interview of any allergies you child may have.

-THE DAY-HOME IS CLOSED FOR THE MONTH OF JULY  and re-opens AFTER THE LONG WEEKEND IN AUGUST ( 5 WEEKS).  I find this gives me quality time to spend with my Family.  The parents are not charged for my holidays or days off I take. It is up to the parents to find back up care for that month.  I will help as much as I can if I know any providers with openings during this time.

-Day home children do not have access to a computer while in care, so please don't send any with them.

-T.V is on usually in the morning as we wait for all the children to arrive and at the end of the day to settle the children for pick up.  T.V is not used during quiet time. I also ask for the children to not bring movies to watch at the home.  Once and a while we will have a movie day and that's when the children are welcome to bring a movie from home.

-I give "treats" to the children very seldom, but we do occasionally have Popsicle's, Slurpee's etc. If you do not wish your child to have any treats, please let me know.

-Please ensure that the childcare fees are paid on time.  E-transfers or post dated cheques are acceptable.  Failing to pay on time may lead to termination.

-I am sorry but subsidy is not available.

-I do not do casual or drop in care as I like consistency in the home.

-Behaviour problems that arise with any child will be discussed with the parents.  If the child is not cooperating, they will be redirected or have a quiet time. I do not have a time out  room.

-When a child will be leaving the day home for whatever reason, one month notice is required in writing. If you choose to to terminate care, I too will give a months notice, more if circumstances allow.  If the parent chooses to terminate care right away without the one month notice, parents will be charged full childcare fees.  Please understand that this is my source of income for my family and some time is needed to refill the spot.

-Many references available, Please ask during the interview.

-I have an open door policy.  Parents are more that welcome to drop in the home at anytime during the day. Feel free to call during the day if you need to do so ,until you are comfortable.  Please keep in mind that between 12:30 p.m and  3:00 p.m is nap and quiet time.

- I have been in the childcare field for a very long time, but am not perfect. Please communicate with me about any problems or concerns you may have.  I am always willing to listen and change as I need to. Working together is the key to happy children, parents and provider.
